Top 7 Reasons Insurance Claims Get Denied (And How to Avoid Them)
Filing an insurance claim after property damage can already be stressful, but receiving a denial can make the situation even more overwhelming.
A building collapse can result in severe damage and significant financial loss.
Mission Property Loss Consultants public adjusters are here to manage the complexities of building collapse damage claims, ensuring all damage is thoroughly documented and you receive the necessary compensation to rebuild.

Collapse coverage is narrower than most owners expect. Many commercial policies cover a collapse only when it is abrupt and caused by something the policy specifically names, such as hidden decay, hidden damage from insects or vermin, the weight of people, equipment or rain, defective materials or methods used in construction, or another covered cause of loss like fire or wind. Ordinary settling, cracking, bulging or sagging is typically not treated as a collapse.
These claims turn on technical questions: what caused the failure, whether it was abrupt, and whether an exclusion such as wear and tear or faulty workmanship applies. Insurers often retain their own engineers. Mission PLC public adjusters work with independent engineers and contractors to document cause and scope, and we press the carrier on the policy language that actually applies to your loss.
Often the same conditions apply: the policy language usually addresses abrupt falling down or caving in of part of a building, so a partial collapse may qualify if it meets the policy terms.
Not before the loss is documented and the insurer has had a reasonable chance to inspect, unless authorities order it for safety. Ask us first.
Both sides usually rely on engineers. An independent engineer on your side helps protect your claim if the carrier’s report points to an exclusion.
